Unit 1 – Introduction to Health & Safety Legislation

Unit 3 – Risk Assessment and Control Measures

You will learn how to evaluate risks, assign risk levels, and apply suitable control measures. This includes physical safety measures and administrative controls like staff training and supervision.
Unit 4 – Safe Systems of Work and PPE
Discover the principles behind developing safe systems of work (SSWs) and why they are vital in high-risk environments. The unit covers the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), the correct procedures for using it, and the importance of maintenance and replacement to ensure its effectiveness.
Unit 5 – Fire Safety and Emergency Procedures
You will explore the causes of workplace fires and how to prevent them. This includes identifying fire hazards, using fire extinguishers safely, and understanding the importance of clear emergency procedures. Evacuation routes, fire drills, and the role of fire wardens are also covered.
Unit 6 – First Aid and Accident Reporting

You will learn how to report incidents properly, what should be included in an accident report, and when to notify enforcing authorities. The unit also explains the legal requirements for first aid provision and the importance of recording near-misses.
Unit 7 – Health and Welfare at Work
